ABOUT ME

When I was in my 20s and early 30s, I was fortunate enough to work and volunteer at a variety of jobs that gave me a depth of experience: working in a zoo (animal husbandry, animal enrichment, teaching environmental education, leading BSA zoo explorers); volunteering at wildlife rehabilitation centers; working on a grain farm (accounting, driving heavy machinery, obtaining my CDL, laying drainage tile); social work (mental health database management, counseling high risk children/students/parents/dialysis patients, crisis management planning and implementation); teaching piano lessons; etc.

While I completed my Ph.D. in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources (i.e., Applied Statistics) at Colorado State University (2000-2006), I became focused specifically on research and conservation. I have 50 related publications and presentations, in addition to numerous affiliations with organizations doing great work on behalf of our natural environment. For nearly 8 years, I have been conducting international sustainability-related research for a Fortune 100 corporation. This work has enabled me to focus on building the marketing, strategy, and management aspects of my portfolio while utilizing best-in-class research and analytics techniques. I am currently expanding my consulting business Shelby Global, L. L. C.
